YOUTH PORT

Abstract drawing

project 1 : youth port

port activity : fund raiser association

this abstract explains the aim of this association which is to collect or raise money for important causes like greener earth, help against child abuse, fight against breast canser and much more.

the different skin colour variety symbolises that in helping others we should not put race into perspective.
the white hands holding the earth does not symbolise lighter skin but rather symbolises transparent colour.
the many hands shows that even the earth can be helped if evryone cared.
hands shows that the activities in collecting the funds are hand made in concept to (DIY) do it yourself fashion.
also proving that most YOUTH  in malaysia do care about the problems happening around them but do not know how to help.
with this association youth can contribute there creativity, weathers in photography, inspirational words, or even paintings. later these items are either print on t-hsirt, or any type of cotton fabric. these products are then selled and automaticly funds are raised and given to important causes.

what is ARCHITECTURE

what is architecture really about,
if u read MR.CHINGs book (FRANCIS D.K. CHING) ul find that according to him
architecture is generally conceived, desighn, realize, built in responce to existing set of condition........ and etc. and MR.WIKI( the wikepedia) says that is both the process and product of planning, designing and construction......and so on..

ACCORDING TO ME well obviosly us part4's hve so little experiance in this so called architecture besides reading and those projects given by lecturers do we really breath/sleep/eat architecture?
i can honestly say i seldom do.and by that my opinion on what architecture is?, is really really INVALID but this is what i can say about architecture.

Its not just creating or making something new, its about looking back at the past designes, learning from the previous era's or even learning from our own mistakes,
ironicly its also about teamwork. even antoni gaudi must have had help to achieve casa batlo,la sagrada familia and so on. its about evolving, and obviously its not just about buildings and houses. THROUGH OUT PART3 AND 4 what we did learn was: architecture IS NOT ONLY EXTERNAL its WHOLESOME inside and also out.

no doubt art and science has a big part in architecture but THE MOST CHALLANGE IS no design is ever right nor wrong whos to say all of antoni gaudi's building are wrong just becouse it wierd?infact hes an iconic architect, so i guess what im trying to say is its also about design suit to function. As i said earlier i have so little experiance and obviously more reading should be done among us archi youth.

2 weeks and 11 days in the Hospital

Add caption

around the hosptls emergency doors are used evrywhere

the height and width of every treating aquipment is also taken consideration, in the ceiling height.

i was given the chance an opportunity by god ALLAH swt to take care of by bed ridden grndmum who i dearly call tok. as i continue i will try to make this architectural related as much as i can.

as u can see the first picture.i loved that window. i think every patient should have one unfortunately only the patient in rooms get a window others just have cubicles. i bet the patient in the cubicle doesnt even know if it was daylight or dawn. that window was the only way i knew if it was raining/shining.

the widows in hospitals are taller then our domestic ones. and HEY Ud NEVER think that what ever we learned in archi SN actually does apply, remember when we learned BUILDING BY LAW part4 archi sn EVERRY ROOM USED FOR ACCOMODATION OF PATIENT IN A HOSPITAL SHALL BE provided with natural ventilation and natural light by means 1/more window having a total area of not less than 15% of a clear loor area of such rooms and shall have openings capable allowing  a free indirupted passage of air not less than 10% 0r 5% i forgot hee o such floor area.

the second picture i wanted to emphasise on the door here a quiry DO YOU KNOW WHY HOSPITALS USE BRASS DOOR KNOBS RATHER THEN OTHER METALS?

BECOUSE BACTERIA CAN NOT LIVE AS LONG IN BRASS COMPARED TO OTHER METALS, yah i just knew that too.

MORE INFORMATION SEARCHED ONLINE:
Hospitals are the most complex of building type. Each hospital has a wide range of services and functional units.

These would include diagnostic and treatment functions, such as clinical laboratories, imaging as in the x-ray room, emergency rooms, and surgery; hospitality functions, such as food service (cafeteria)(and the kitchen built in just for preparing patients meal)  and also housekeeping.

Each of the wide-ranging and constantly evolving functions of a hospital, including highly complicated mechanical, electrical, and telecommunications systems, requires specialized knowledge and expertise.

NO one person can reasonably have complete knowledge, which is why specialized consultants play an important role in hospital planning and design. This proves that architects can never work alone teamwork and accomplishing together is key.

AND THE LAST LESSON LEARNED is ALLAH swt is almighty and anything can happen to us in a blink of an eye, lets just remember we wont be young forever.

10 things learnt while working at retail shop

What iv learn while working at a retail shop:

If you ever want to experience loads of different culture in a day well definitely work in retail shops. You will find out that even some words learnt in the past Arabic or mandarin  class is convenient! Well basicly because the people that come there are from all over the world arab, china, Italy , japan and the tricky part is sometimes they don’t even know English not even some.

LANGUAGE IS NOT A BARIER, Hey that’s what body language is for, language is not a reason for failure

RACISM., we seem to catogarize these 3 races in Malaysia a lot, rude/lazy/dishonest well we know which belongs to which race. The truth is its not the race its just the few people that make the whole entire race be categorize in such maner.
Youll definitely get to know where the cheap foodcourt are AND WHY THE FOOD IN THAT PARTICULAR FOODCOURT IS CHEAP!., THE BACKENTRANCE OF THE SHOPPING MALLS, how preety it is from outside bt from the inside how curropted it is.

BERSIH

Bersih? Everyone has their own opinion on what its about for me I guess I’m caught up in the middle im not pro though im not anti, but I for sure appose there riot near klcc on the past 9th july it is because there actions showed how uncivilized our people are. There are other ways to change an opinion other ways to liberate how we feel inside, write ,published use words not illegal actions as in illegal parades. Children and elderly citizens had also join this parade? Obviously not a good massage. Although if we look at what ambega was trying to achieve is right sure our government is not 100% honest bt a illegal parade was not the way to go.
And the programs government tried to not acknowledge the bersih parade was a good effort. Programs like live performance at shops / hari koperasi Malaysia n pesta hijau in putrajaya that was done through out 8th till 9th July.

a tribute to indian culture

ppl all over the world come to malysia to experiance the 272 concrete steps of batu caves. which suprisingly used to be wooden steps. the experiance was a cultural blast. the stairs were generally smaller then our average steps since the steps are usually used barefooted, thus explaining the size of a smaller steps also taking notice of asian peoples foot size which are usually smaller.

The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside india, dedicated to Lord murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia.
The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old. Some of the cave entrances were used as shelters by the indigenous Temuan people (a tribe of orang asli ).
At batu caves u can also see a few torana’s but its mostly the handmade ones usually by banana trees and there leaves just tangled on ropes forming a religious handmade torana.

borbudur temple

about the temple..

borrobudur is built as a single large stupa.
for me the the most interesting thing about it,
is that from its ground plan it takes up a giant bhuddhist mandala, coincidence?? i think not..i guess evrything in architecture is always related in someway.
according to my previous blog the mandala represents the buddhist cosmology and nature of mind.

second is the carved gargoyle for water drainage??very detailed,i mean carvings even for the drainage?

 The foundation is a square.
It has nine platforms, of which the lower six are  square and the upper three are circular The upper platform features seventy-two small stupas surrounding one large central stupa. Each stupa is bell-shaped and pierced by numerous decorative openings.
Statues of the buddha sit inside the pierced enclosures.
The stone was cut to size, transported to the site and laid without mortar.
Knobs, indentations and dovetails were used to form joints between stones.
Reliefs were created in-situ after the building had been completed.
The monument is equipped with a good drainage system to cater for the area's high stormwater run-off.
To avoid flood, 100 spouts are provided at each corner with a unique carved gargoyles in the shape of giants or makaras...100??a lot?huh..

Instead of building on a flat surface, Borobudur is built on a natural hill.
The building technique is, however, similar to other temples in Java.
With no inner space as in other temples and its general design similar to the shape of pyramid, Borobudur was first thought more likely to have served as a stupa, instead of a temple.
A temple, is used as a house of deity and has inner spaces for worship. The complexity of the monument's meticulous design suggests Borobudur is in fact a temple!
